The standard Lyofoam® dressing is a sterile polyurethane foam dressing used in the treatment of light to moderately exuding wounds, such as leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, post-operative and traumatic wound sites, burns, and skin grafts. Lyofoam® has a hydrophilic, smooth wound contact surface and absorbs excess exudate to help minimize maceration. The other side of the dressing exhibits hydrophobic properties, helping prevent strike-through of blood and exudate.

How to use Lyofoam®
1) Irrigate/cleanse the woundwith normal saline or wound cleanser.

2) Select a size of Lyofoam® large enough to overlap the wound margins by 2-3cm. If necessary, cut to shape. Place the smooth, shiny side of the dressing directly over the wound surface.
NOTE: Do not cover Lyofoam® with occlusive films or tapes, as these reduce moisture vapor loss, which may impair the effectiveness of the dressing.

3) Lyofoam® can be secured with tape or a retention bandage (e.g. Tubifast®, Tubigrip® or appropriate compression bandage).
